Member Church News: Partners, Declarations, Climate Justice

A partnership between the Presbyterian Church (USA) and Church of Christ in Thailand is seeking native English speakers to volunteer as teachers in more than two dozen schools in Thailand.

A delegation from the United Church of Christ and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) visited with partners in Ghana earlier this month, including a school for girls supported by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

The Executive Committee of the Presbyterian-Reformed Church in Cuba has issued a declaration on Venezuela, calling for dialogue, advocacy against military intervention and prayers for all. Another Cuban organization, the Latin American Ecumenical Social Action, has also issued a solidarity statement which has been shared by AIPRAL, the WCRC’s Latin American regional council.

Uniting Church in Australia members joined a thousand people gathered outside Parliament House on its first day of sitting calling for stronger action on climate change.

An ecumenical group of German churches have committed to focusing on climate change during Lent, as is the Church of Scotland with its Living Lent: Creating a Climate of Change campaign.

Columbia Theological Seminary and Emory University’s Center for the Study of Law and Religion in partnership with the World Council of Churches and other national and global organizations brought together 180 participants for a conference on “Migration and Border Crossings.”
