Appeal issued for Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China, a member church of the WCRC, has issued a condemnation and appeal concerning the current situation there.

The statement calls for restraint from all parties and continuing prayer, as well as pledging “to uphold the Biblical standard and to live out our faith, and to walk humbly with the Lord and the Hong Kong citizens in righteousness and mercy.”

The WCRC joins with the Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China in this appeal and asks its members to:

• Show support to our sisters and brothers in Hong Kong
• Pray for those standing up peacefully for justice
• Express concern to the authorities in Hong Kong to respect human rights and freedom
