Applications invited for Rome liaison

The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC), along with the Church of Scotland, and in partnership with the Tavola Valdese, are seeking a person to serve in Rome, Italy, as both the minister of St. Andrew’s Church and the ecumenical liaison officer in the Reformed Ecumenical Office.

The person hired will engage ecumenically with other Christian churches at a practical and theological level by building relationships with ecumenical partners.

As the ecumenical liaison officer, the individual will:

  • seek ecumenical dialogue, engagement, and joint action for peace and justice with ecumenical partners in Rome;
  • present significant Reformed initiatives to the ecumenical community in Rome.

The specific annual goals of the Reformed Ecumenical Office will be developed by an advisory board composed of the partnering organizations. The post-holder will be required to liaise regularly with the chair of the advisory board.

A key feature will be to prepare an annual public event to present significant Reformed initiatives to the ecumenical community in Rome, in cooperation with the WCRC.

As minister of St. Andrew’s Church, the person will provide a ministry of Word and sacrament to the church community and serve as an ambassador for the Church of Scotland. An integral component of the post will be enabling St. Andrew’s Church to develop its relationship with the wider community and churches in Italy.

Candidates should be recognized as an ordained minister by the WCRC and Church of Scotland and have the ability to reinforce an international identity for the worshipping community to express the global breadth of the Reformed tradition. The Church of Scotland will serve as the hiring organization.
