Communion invited to join in Reformation Sunday

Members of the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) are invited to participate in Reformation Sunday through using a common liturgy, joining a live-stream from Indonesia, and taking up a special offering for the Communion.

“Hope and a Future” is the theme of the liturgy developed by the Calvin Institute for Christian Worship for the WCRC’s celebration of Reformation Day in 2023, based on Jeremiah 29: 4-7, 11-14 and Revelation 22:1-5.

This year, the Reformation Day worship service will be live-streamed from the Gereja Kristen Jawa Jakarta (Jakarta Christian Church of Java) on Sunday, 29 October, beginning at 5:00 p.m. (local time). The stream will appear on the WCRC’s Facebook pages in English, French, and Spanish.

The message will be brought by Septemmy Lakawa, president of Jakarta Theological Seminary from 2019 to 2023 and an associate professor of mission studies, feminist theology, and trauma theology.

The WCRC further invites its members to promote the WCRC and dedicate their offering collection on Reformation Sunday to the work and witness of the Communion. Materials to assist are available for download from the WCRC website.

Additional information–and resources—about the annual Reformation Day observation can be found on the WCRC website.
